Dr. Martha
Ward Plowden is the author of Famous Firsts
of Black Women and Olympic Black Women. She is a retired
Media Specialist from the Atlanta Public School System.
Dr. Plowden interest in the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) began during her
childhood with her parents, the late Rev. and Mrs. Isiah
Paul Ward, Sr., who were involved in the organization.
Dr. Plowden is a member of the Executive Committees of
the Georgia State Conference and the Atlanta Branch
NAACP. She presently serves as the Georgia States
Coordinator of the Academic, Cultural, Technological,
and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) and is the chairperson
of the Atlanta Branch NAACP’s ACT-SO Program. Dr.
Plowden is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a product of
the Atlanta Public School System. She received her
Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) from Clark College (now
CAU), her Masters (M.S.L.S.) and Specialist Degrees (Ed.S.)
from Atlanta University (now CAU), her L-6 in Education
Administration from Georgia State Uversity and her
Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) from Walden
University. She is married to Nathaniel Plowden and the
mother of Natalie Ward Plowden. |
